I am an international student and I’m currently looking at these two colleges. The threads that I had found were not very recent so I decided to make a new one. How is the vibe at these two schools? Which one is more international student friendly in terms for application? I am interested in majoring in biology or something related. Which university would be better for a biology major? I heard that Colby have more biology related internships while Colgate have more economic or finance related ones? Also I heard that it’s harder to get the courses you want at Colgate? Can anyone tell me more about these two schools?
There are more similarities than differences between these two schools. Both are excellent from an academic standpoint. Colgate is slightly bigger at almost 3,000 students vs Colby at 2,000. To some, those extra 200 kids per class do make a difference. Both are in small towns, Colby about an hour from Portland, and Colgate an hour from Syracuse, though Portland might be more interesting to a college kid. Both have pretty campuses with sporty, happy, preppy kids. Colby may have a more outdoorsy vibe. Colgate has frats, Colby does not, but is still a social school. For biology, you may want to delve into the respective websites and look at course offerings and number of professors and the research they have conducted. But both will give you an excellent education.
