^^ good idea.

My friend got in from the wait list but she's going to TCNJ now.

That's why Andrea should not give up hope. There are always people who stayed in the waitlist who will turn down the call when it comes, so, make yourself known to the powers that be at Colgate.

just got a letter today asking me if I wanted to join the summer waitlist which would last through july 24. Has anyone else gotten one of those yet?

Yup...got the summer waitlist letter today. So far they have only taken a handful off. I visited Colgate several weeks ago, spoke with the Adcom rep for Southern Cal, wrote letters, etc. I think it is not going to happen for me.

Ginger,

Don't give up hope, you are doing all the right things! Don't worry about being a pest, the more you call the more they will think of you when a spot opens. Also, without being too intrusive, I need to ask if you need a lot of financial aid? The more need you need the less the chances. Good Luck to you!

I do not need any aid...I am very fortunate. My GC at school told me to be satisfied with my deposit school. She thinks it is a better match. Maybe it is, maybe not. I love where Colgate is located and I think the academics are great. In retrospect, I should have applied ED...my GC advised against it and told me to go for broke on an Ivy. I shouldn't have listened.

if they ahve a summer waitlist, i would imagine that they are not going to dick around and will probably accept a good number of peopel from it, just keep showing interest and ur chances will be greater than a normal waitlist most likely.

Wild uninformed guess: summer waitlist would e used to replace Internationals who were unable to get Visas, or Colgate admittees waitlisted at other schools who get in there for the same reason?

"In retrospect, I should have applied ED..."

I love your retrospection.... My thoughts exactly

It's my opinion after joining CC community a year ago that the students, and parents on here are more plugged in to strategies and realities at the various schools than the typical GC. We have a couple of good GC's at my high school but when I mentioned some of the things I have learned participating on CC they both asked me about our CC community. Now they know even more. Colgate statistically has a much better % chance of admission ED than RA. That is true for all of the top lacs. However don't beat yourself up about what you should have done as it's too late now. Good luck wherever you are going. I'm glad I survived junior year high school with all the SATs, APs, SATlls etc. Now its application time around the corner.
