If you want to make money on Wall Street, skip college. Most of the best traders are street smart HS kids from queens. Seven figure salaries are common for those who have the knack (lots of smart people don't). Also, they are unpleasant to be around in the extreme.

Laughable. Where are you getting this information, Yalebound?
This reads like the viewpoint of someone smarting from an ivy rejection.

This reads like the viewpoint of someone smarting from an ivy rejection.

Which part?

yalebound is right, read the book Liar's Poker by Michael Lewis

those were some uglyass dudes from queens i must say

pfff i am from queens you bums! haha. And yes I trade and you could say I have a knack for trading. Forex, CFDs, Indices, Equities its all good. The two things that I havent traded on the market are futures and options.

But no thats the special case not the normal ones. Most of the best traders in the world are the best mathematicians. Traders are typically formed in two ways: you are born with that special something, or you are a quant. finance person with lot of practice with indicators. Look at DE Shaw. They hire more computer science, mathematics PhDs than MBAs. Or they hire people who have already started their own fund and is posting impressive results. The best trader that I personally know of graduated from Tulane, now is prop trading Forex and making 50% of what he makes. And he is making a lot.

Wishful thinking....The only skill correlated with the best traders is fast keyboard reflexes/typing. Not surprising, since you guys from Queens spend your lives playing video games.

hehe. Fast keyboarding skills. Have you even ever traded? Do you know what weighted Moving averages, exponential moving averages, fibonacci retracement high/low lines, bolliger bands, or MACD accelerated indicators are? Look the best traders are the best mathematicians or they have that special something.

And yes I spend a lotta time playing video games and soccer. :).

When I learned about Random Walk, I saved myself the trouble of learning that sophistry. But I heard Bollinger is James Bond's Champagne of choice.

haha. Yalebound represents the guys who start trading and think its easy. You are the guys we make money from so keep on going. And no I am not talking about James Bond's chanpagne of choice ;).
