That is so nice Minnesota Mom..thanks for sharing your first post. Enjoying the news from the frequent posters above as well...

Lots of great news right off the press!!! Congratulations!!!

This has been his dream since 8th grade but he never thought it would be. We are low income, neither one of us went to college and I didn't get my GED until I was 31. I'm taking my first college course at a community college(I'm 45) and I know my son will be able to help me with freshman composition. We don't fit the mold in our community, on his sports teams or at his school. I've always told him he can't rely on his gene pool but you get far with your determination. Nobody was more surprised then him when admissions called him! We've been involved in this process so long and I never really knew what I was doing. I've never registered to say anything here but CC has been so helpful with finding answers to my questions. Now that the decision has been made and that we know what his plan is for the fall it's hard to shift gears. While I am SO happy for him, in many ways I don't feel I've even reacted yet! I just feel so incredibly grateful.

Minnesota - don't worry, you will have so many occasions to react and feel pride and excitement and maybe a little worry as he goes to the other side of the coutnry. The pieces of mail will start coming, finding out what residential college he will be in, does his sport require they go early for practices like water polo for example, whether he takes the required writing seminar in fall or spring, all the key stuff. He might like to join cc himself and chat a little with some kids on the Princeton 2010 board. He can ask all those questions ....can he do OA or does it conflict with the sport, etc....

As I said, congrats. This is the Celebrations thread after all. ....

Wow, what an inspiration you are to those reading cc, and I am sure you are an incredible inspriration to your son!! Look at how far he has gotten!! You must be helping to direct him exactly where he needs to go!! Sounds like he got some pretty good genes, and a lot of determination through his parents!
I am sure the coaches helped too!!
