College admission chances

Hi there,

I am a 17 year old prospective US undergrad student enrolling 2012. I am studying A-Levels in the UK but I am in the equivalent of 'junior year' in the USA.

I was wondering if anybody thinks I have a reasonable chance of getting in to one of the Ivy League universities?

I am yet to sit my SAT Subject exams, but I have taken my SAT Reasoning test and received a score of 2170 (CR - 730, Math - 720, Writing - 720).
(note - would I need to retake these if I wanted to get into an Ivy League?)

I play field hockey for my schools equivalent of a US "varsity" team, and have also represented my region (East of England) at both U16 and U18 level. I am part of the school newspaper, debating society and economics society.

I am currently taking 3AS Levels and an A2 - I received an A at AS French last year. I am predicted AAA for my AS Levels and an A for my A2 French.

I gained 7A*s and 3As in my GCSE exams.
Any feedback would be much appreciated!

Thanks!
Caitlin

Hey, Caitlin

You have chances with the stats you mentioned. Your SAT does give you a chance, but, if you can still increase your score, that would be even better.

Good luck ;)

I’d contact the Field Hockey coaches at schools to which you’re considering applying and see if your athletic ability might provide you an advocate.
