College Admissions Affected by US Region? Or High School Type?

I was using this popular calculator for college admissions and found that US Region and especially high school type had a decent impact on the chances, especially for Cornell. Just how important are these factors? I’m learning as much as I can for my family. Here is the website for reference: www.mycollegecalculator.com

If a school like Cornell has two otherwise very similar applicants but one is going to add more regional or background diversity than the other, they would probably go with that one. It’s unlikely to have a huge impact.

What do you consider a decent impact? I tried Cornell with a typical profile and the range between all of the available regions was 1%.

I suggest reading the “Learn more” section for this calculator. It’s practically saying not to take it very seriously.
