College Admissions

Do the number of AP classes (if you do well and pass the AP exam) weigh more than test scores(ACT/SAT).

Does GPA weigh more than test scores?

1) Nope.
2) Hard to say. Both are important in their own right.

No, you don’t even need to send colleges an official AP score report.

I would say yes. My friend, who has a 2040 on her SAT but an 86 GPA, got deferred from our state school. My other friend, with a 1700 and a 90 GPA, was accepted. And for the most competitive schools I would say that you need a high GPA (top 10%) but not necessarily the highest test scores.

I’d agree with Imei; GPA weighs a little more than test scores. GPA is a measure of work ethic and how much you challenge yourself. Test scores are a measure of how well you’ve mastered basic concepts. GPA is a better indicator of how successful you will be at college. Terrible students can get high test scores. Schools don’t want terrible students.

Actually it varies, anyone can get good grades, test scores are actually a measure of what you KNOW.
Public schools prefer GPA and I believe privates prefer test scores.

Anyone can get good grades, yes. But only good students actually get them. Like I said, GPA is an indication of how successful you will be in college, an indication of how much you care about education. A 2400 on the SAT means… you know Algebra II and what commas are, but says absolutely nothing about your work ethic of the skills that will make you a contributing member of a university.
