College App Help.

I'm a non-US citizen but am attending high school in the US. When I apply next year should I apply as an international student or local student. Also, do I get to use Early Decision?

I’m sorry I’m not much help bcuz I don’t know what early descision is but as for local or not it depends if you’re trying to go to. A college in ur state go with local to pay less money if not go with international u may be able to get help paying for more of the tuition. I hope I helped at least a little bit. I’m in high school too so I’m not exactly sure.

I would check with each individual school, but it sounds like you should be able to apply as a US grad. Also, beware of early decision as it is binding (unless the finances don’t work out)- choose ED if you are absolutely sure that you want to go to the school and can afford it. But I would always have some backup applications done and ready to send out if ED does not work out.

@tylerbing, I know that you have good intentions, but please don’t offer advice when you “don’t know” or “aren’t exactly sure”. It’s not helpful, and could be harmful. There are plenty of regular CC posters who do know and can be relied upon to come forward and answer these kinds of questions, so there is no need to offer mere guesses.

Applying as an international student means that you are from another country applying to U.S. colleges.

Applying as a local student means you live in the U.S. I believe.

When you are applying there may be options on U.S citizenship included. Be aware of that.

tyler, psycho and ecO are mistaken.

If applying to US colleges, unless you’re a US citizen or hold US Permanent resident status, then you MUST apply as an International applicant, whereever you attend HS. Most schools that have ED allow International students to partake.

Good luck.
