College Apps and your Parents Employer

I work at the same company that my parents do. I was wondering how much of a difference that that would make on my college application, becuase they ask you where your parents work. Its not a small company, so its not like a family business or anything and my parents werent my boss. Should I leave the section where they ask your parents employer blank? I dont want them to think that "daddy" gave his kid a job or anything. I also developed a program and brochures for teenagers where my mom works, not becuase she my mom, but because they needed a teen and i am good at writing, and graphic design. What should i do? Should i leave the section blank? Would it be a disadvantage to me?

You should fill out the section.
I doubt if it would be a disadvantage. It's not important whether you worked at the same place your father did, and if you really want to clarify the fact that it's not a family business, just write it in the "additional information" section of the college's application.

bump.......

haha im in a very similar situation. My dad works for Cornell and I'm interning here.

question: when they ask for employer arethey looking for a specific person's name or a company name?

Employer is the company's name.

i agree with cbpeanut. it isnt really that important.
