Hello Fellow Parents,
Over the last few years while my children were searching for colleges, I've read many message threads on College Confidential and have learned a lot, so thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts & stories.
This is my first post and I hope the topic resonates with my fellow parents.
I went on over 20 college tours and although it cost a lot of money, I selfishly loved the mini-family vacations and getting to spend time away with my wife and kids. But at some point early on in the touring process, I realized that what I was hearing from the Admissions speakers & the tour guides, and what I was seeing around campus at all the schools, was basically the same thing. It became a running joke with my family as we predicted what we'd hear & see next. Things like "Do you know the CEO of XYZ company? Well he graduated from here" or "We have over 500 clubs on campus, but if you don't find one you like, you can always start your own" or "Forgive the construction around campus, but the good news is that the new building will be open on day 1 of your freshman year" or "Watch out for the guy riding the longboard on the sidewalk" and so on and so on.

So I wrote a book called "College Tour Bingo" that turns the college tour into a fun game for the whole family. You can check it out on Amazon.com or at Collegetourbingo.com.

But my real purpose here is to open up a dialogue with all my fellow parents so we can share funny & horror stories about the tours and give advice on how to make the college campus tour as productive and meaningful as possible.
I look forward to hearing your stories and sharing my experiences with you all as well.
Thank you in advance for sharing your stories.
