College Chances

Hi. I am a junior who is going to apply to the following colleges this upcoming summer (writing in order of which colleges I want to go to the most) UCLA (legacy), USC (legacy), UCSD, NYU (legacy), UCI, UCSB, UTA, SDSU, UCR, and CSULA, and want to know my chances and what to change in order to improve them. My stats and information are as follows:
SAT: 2250
UCWGPA: 4.2ish
Non Weighted GPA: 3.6ish
WGPA:4.05
SAT 2 Korean: 790
SAT 2 Math 2: 770
SAT 2 English 2: 800
Including Senior Year, I took/will take 9-10 AP classes
I have worked 500 plus community service hours (still going) and I have a clean record and a few scholarships already. I started and was the president of the Korean Club at my school and participated in the new MUN at my school which I also co-founded as well. I wrote a novel and I am in the process of publishing it, and transferred schools during the middle of Sophomore year. I can probably get 2 to 3 recommendation letters. I moved 7 times or so around the LA metropolitan area and had a rather interesting childhood (somewhat bad) that can help me write a killer essay. I played varsity golf sophomore year and used to be a prodigy (until I had tendinitis and practiced less :( ). I tried IB but transferred. I am currently working at In-n-out and I am a California Resident born in Burbank. I know a lot of this info is sorta useless but it can make or break me in some of the bigger colleges such as UCLA.

What’s your problem with U Missouri, if you wanted to do journalism?

Your GPA is a bit low. I pretty much agree with Catria except for NYU due to your GPA. I think it may be a high match.

Just know that at USC and UC’s legacy plays little to no role. You seem to have done fine on your own merits, however. Good luck!

I know most people don’t really agree with this…but depending on the school you attend and the type of student that goes there also changes the chances of you getting in…Personally I go to a very small private school and your scores and GPA are exactly what people going to the schools at the top of your list have.
And it really is all what the colleges are looking for in a student based on your scores. I honestly think you’ll have no problem getting into the schools that you want to go to…USC also offers a very large number of students 2nd or 3rd semester admits if you don’t mind going to CC for a year

@Catria. I want to stay instate if I can. However the colleges that are out of state are places where I have family.
