I kindly want your advice on my college choices. My current SAT score is 1920 and i am applying to U.S. for mechanical engineering. my sat 2 break ups are math: 790, chemistry 800 and physics: 760. I am also looking for 90% to 100% need based financial aid. My school counselor had suggeted me some colleges, some of which are bellow:
Brown University
Columbia University
Washington university in st. Louis
Duke university
Caltech

So, do you think these choices are good? I am little double minded about Brown and Columbia because in the field of Mechanical engineering, they are ranked in the range 51-100, So should i prefer them over Princeton Yale and Harvard, whose rankings are little better? Similarly, i also want to ask that Are Brown and Columbia generous enough to offer me substantial financial aid ?

There is one more question i want to ask. If I were to choose two colleges between Washington University in St.Louis, Swarthmore College, Vanderbilt university and University of Chicago, which two should i choose ?

Thank you very much, looking forward to your reply.

The admission has a component about ECs which play an important role in admissions. You did not post any thing about ECs. Anyways, purely on number basis, all the colleges you mentioned are not likely to accept an international student with full financial needs. In many cases, the university ranking makes it more competitive and not the specific school within this university. Duke’s prett engg college rank way below than ga tech however getting admission in duke engg program is more competitive than GA tech.

GA tech or so e other public university might be more suitable for your sat. However only few of them gives full financial aid.

None of the colleges you have listed are reasonable choices. As an intl’ student, you’d usually be expected to have above average stats for the universities you are applying to. However, yours are, a couple hundred points below. The ivies are generous to intl’s with FA (with the exception of Cornell, I think) but you’d have to get in to be made an offer. I’d urge you to retake the SAT. You might want to aim a little lower as well.

Also publics are out of the question. (Except for maybe a couple of exceptions)

Honestly, your SAT score is below average for all of the schools you have listed. I would suggest you retake the SAT or take the ACT instead, build your resume up a little bit, and make sure you are taking the most academically rigorous classes. I would suggest you look into colleges like Stevens Institute of Tech in NJ, UIllinois Urbana Champaign, etc due to your SAT score.

Bro I take Further Math, Math, Chemistry, Physics and English General… Bro would you like to have a look at my common app essay? Please also check it for grmmatical errors if you have time Thank you :)

You haven’t given us a GPA or its equivalent nor any ECs. Based only on your SATs I’d say you have very little chance of admission at any of the schools you mentioned. There would be even less chance of 90% need-based FA. There are just too many people with far better scores than yours. Aim lower.
