College Class 2018

(This question is more directed to girls) - are you going to be putting effort into your college wardrobe? I know the whole stereotype is that college lecture halls are full of sweats and Uggs but are you actually going to try to consciously look nice? I’m going clothes shopping next week and I’m still deciding between tons of yogas or actually decent clothing.

Although I’m not a girl, I had a conversation with my cousin about this. Yesterday I went extreme clothes shopping and I actually bought clothes to allow myself to look presentable. When I look good, my self-confidence is boosted thus allowing me to be more attentive and studious. Also, I think I could score brownie points from the professor by looking good next to my hoodie, yoga pants wearing classmates. Plus I used up all my bum looking days in high school. So I personally think you should get clothes that will allow you to look good and feel comfortable. But definitely get some yoga pants for those days full of hangovers or fatigue from all nighters.

I will be putting effort in–the same amount of effort I did in HS. I’m not one to wear sweats to class, but I do wear Uggs :). I don’t wear dresses everyday, but usually wear jean shorts, or jeans with a decent top. My “I’m too sick to care” look consists of leggings instead of sweatpants because for me they’re just as comfortable, but tend to look a bit nicer.

I don’t wear pants that aren’t jeans (I have bad memories of my mother making me wear sweatpants when I was little), but I wear pretty much the same outfits every week and never put any special effort into them. I got winter boots yesterday, but I’m not really buying new clothes.

Yeah - my senior year of high school was my whole “bum chic” year; yoga leggings and t-shirts with Toms everyday; I’m gonna try to buy a few sweaters (I bought a black cashmere v-neck one last week) and some dark wash jeans. I agree with the whole confidence in appearance being linked to my academic appearance; when I feel nice, my whole mood is lifted and I’m happier to be in class.

I’m still gonna get yoga pants for big exam days or days where the hellish New England winters get to be just too much but I need to start wearing actual pants.

“You are what you wear” has been one of my life mottoes for many years now. If you want to be taken seriously, make sure your wardrobe has a reasonable amount of serious clothing.

I’m moving on 23 and classes start 27. I wonder what welcome week activities are going to happen on campus.

I haven’t decided how I’m going pack for college, but I fortunately found some empty cardboard boxes around the house.

Im switching up my wardrobe definitely because I dont want to care about what people are going to think when I get dressed anymore. Plus, it’s a fresh start, most people wont know your old style. So, if I want to be super dressy, or dark, or messy, or bright I dont care, I wanna look good and feel good.

Is the freshman 15 true? I hope not. I will be exercising all year so maybe it won’t be a problem for me.

then it won’t be a problem for you lol

Yeah I’m definitely exercising and working out during college. I don’t think there will be another time in my life where I have free unlimited access to all that gym equipment.

I still read @TinnyT’s posts in Aang’s voice. Still.

Anyways - is it impolite to email a professor to ask if an earlier edition of a textbook (earlier by just one year - but a steep 350 dollar difference) is suitable for class? I’m afraid they might get offended.

Also, I just scrolled through my twitter and a rising senior at my high school tweeted about the SAT, describing it as “the test of her life” - and I blurted out “gurl it was neva that serious” in the most exaggerated Real Housewives type inflection.

Help.

Yeah when I picture @TinnyT, I picture Aang

Seriously. I literally picture Aang sitting at a computer, just talking about Middlebury, lol.

All the rising seniors tweeting about the CA, so cute, they won’t face the struggles we did though.

GlitchyCommonApp2013 #NeverForget

the college I’ll be attending doesn’t even accept the CA… I actually put the most effort into that main essay

My friend was telling me about how she was adding colleges and thinking about essays for the CA.

Tell her that the best college essays are always about boyfriends.
