Hi! I’m trying to decide between the Universities of Iowa and Minnesota-Twin Cities and am leaning towards U of M currently mostly because it has higher statistics and is harder to get into. I was wondering if anyone could tell me about the student life? How are the classes, how is the campus, what are weekends like, etc. Just any information people would like to share about living at the university would be great and appreciated! Thank you!!
Not sure if you are from OOS nor what your plans would be for Holidays like Thanksgiving etc. but I visited the UMTC campus with my D over Thanksgiving and it was pretty dead. Lots of kids go home for Thanksgiving so that might explain it. Coffman student union was closed up for the most part (bookstore open but everything else closed including the Starbucks 
). Fortunately we were headed to Weissman Art Museum which WAS open. My D visited earlier in 2014 on the weekend with my husband to check out locations of dorms and such and they experienced the same thing. Having said all this, UMTC is an urban campus so obviously surrounding businesses would likely be open (probably not on Thanksgiving but perhaps later on that weekend).
