Hi everyone! I am a junior at a private all girls school in surburban PA. We are handing in our college essays to our english teacher next week to be graded, and I am still struggling to come up with a topic. I was thinking about writing about my celiac disease (I was diagnosed at the start of high school), and how it has changed me and want to enter the field of medicine. However, my guidance counselour said colleges don’t like reading about illnesses. So my question is…what are we supposed to write about then? If anyone could let me know some creative essays they have read, and if i should write about this, that would be appreciated! thanks!!!
There’s really no set topic. Anything that shows who you are as an individual. But didn’t your English teacher give you any guidance?
You have to write about something that shows who you really are.
Hope this help you in writing your college essays (it is published by John Hopkin so it should provide you with an insight into what selective colleges look for in the essays):

My guess is that you’ve already handed in that English assignment.
But take a look at the Common App essay prompts for a starting point.
