College essay question

Hi there.
I am to write about how the world has shaped my dreams and aspirations. I was wondering:

What kind of essay question is this? Influence, Future Goals?

What am I supposed to do? Either tell them my life story or rather concentrate on one special scene? That is, should I tell them how my family, my friends, my clubs shaped me or should I just concentrate on one factor, say family?

Please help!

It is your essay, so you should have complete control over it. None of us know you, so we cannot tell you which part you should focus on (although you do need to focus on something).

Write a draft, then ask a good writer(peer or teacher or family) to read/edit it. Then go from there. After four or five edits you should have a good one that will focus on a main theme and flows naturally and hopefully shows you in the best light possible.

I won't give any really specific advice, but focusing usually makes a much better essay, because otherwise a lot of times it ends up like a list

I am not asking you to tell me on which aspect to focus on.
I simply would like to know whether it makes more sense to focus on a certain aspect or not.

that's kinda impolite, but yes, you should focus on one aspect.

u shud focus on 1 aspect and in conclusion draw a parallel with the broad side.to giv an affect of broader aspect..The main focus shud be specific but broad things at end do weigh in nicely......as effect on u etc......

Sorry, I did not mean to be impolite. I guess I chose the wrong words :)
Anyway, thanks a lot guys.
