I’m thinking about writing about my ACT improvement as a college essay, do you think it would be a good or bad idea? My very first act was a 19 and I now currently have a 26, im also planning on retaking the October date. Would the colleges like this topic or would see my initial score as a drawback?
It depends. What did you learn as you went through the experience of improving your score?
Question: do schools see that 19? If not, it might be better not to highlight it.
I think a bigger problem with this topic than the initial score is that you might come off as having nothing on your mind besides college. Like you could’ve written about anything in the world, and you chose your ACT score. Not that you can’t make it work, but you’d have to have something really unique to say.
I don’t think it is a good topic. Pick something specific to you and not related to college admissions to write about. The poor ad coms just want a good story or a unique view of you. They want to see a side of you that adds flavor or interest to their campus. This isn’t it.
No. There must be soemthing more interesting about you than how you brought up your test score. Find a better way of letting them know you are a hard worker.
