i'm not talking about extreme low cut jeans.. with one inch zippers or anything.. just regular low cut jeans.. they really are much more comfortable.. maybe in 20 years i'll still be wearing them (as long as they don't completely wear out!).. I don't dress skanky or anything like that.. I actually only own two pairs of jeans, i don't find them all that comfortable.. and i almost always wear a belt.. i would feel like a big idiot if my underwear were sticking out the back of my pants, and i love to laugh at the girls (AND BOYS) who do that.

but yeah, i'm sure that in 20 years time we will ALL look back and wonder what we were thinking about some of the stuff we wore.. just like I look back at the fashions from 20 years ago and I just have to laugh. My dad bought me a neon yellow hoodie for christmas (as a joke), and i'm trying to locate some old school neon yellow LA GEAR sneakers to go with it. i think it will be hilarious to come home dressed as an eightys chick :)

i also have to laugh at the guys fashions - wearing their pants below their butt. I wish i could take a picture of all of them and show it to them in 20 years. i get tired of seeing all the boxers sticking out!

emerald - i guess hooker boots are like gogo boots. theyre just skin tight around your legs and go up to right below your knees.

If you are short waisted, low cut jeans are the only way to go. On me, low cut jeans are just below my navel and regular cut jeans actually go above my navel and if I tuck in my shirt with them, I look really dorky. And yes, all my shirts cover everything. What was the subject of this thread and why are we not in the cafe'??

yeah kathie, it's the same for me. the regular cut jeans literally go an inch or two above my naval. when i sit down they like cut into my stomach, and it's just really uncomfortable. I have to wear the low cut ones.. and they look/fit fine.

Barrons,

when ever i go back to vist A2 and UMich I have to stop at Zingerman's Deli. Best sandwiches and specialties I've had (try Clancy's Fancy hot sauce, I always buy a few bottles when I'm there.

Fendergirl,

I don't know if it occurs to you that most of us have lived through "hip-huggers" back in the early 70's. I thought they looked ridiculous and vulgar then too...my daughter wears them now and makes the same claims about them that you do...it was the same with the rolled-down-shorts when they were in style "i only do it because they are comfortable, not because it's fashionable".....somehow they have now become less comfortable (and coincidentally, less fashionable) lol

I also have to sympathize with fendergirl I too am short waisted, my waist is at my navel and to make matters worse I have an extra rib so those jeans that are low waisted on everyone else actually hit me about 3cm below my waist. When I wear regular jean that hit everyone else at the waist, they hit me well above. I wish they sold different rises the way they sell different lengths would be ok- but they don't & this saves me time shopping cause I don't need to try on a billion pair of jeans to find ones that fit.

but anyway I agree that bare bellies in some communities seem to be commonplace. Last spring I went with 8th graders to a week long camp. One girl in my cabin not only had her navel pierced but was a belly dancer and could -roll her rectus abdominus, "Very impressive", I said, "but not at the breakfast table".!

WoodWork - If you knew me you'd know that I don't care what's fashionable :) I dress for comfort, and nothing else. I love my sweatpants, and i wear them more than anything else. like I said, I only have two pairs of jeans. and, there's a difference between "hip huggers" and "low cut jeans".. i can't stand the hip huggers jeans, theyre really uncomfortable. they rub into my hips and literally make them sore. My mom bought me a pair for christmas one year. my "low cut jeans" come above my hips, right below my naval (which is where pants should come up to). the "regular cut" jeans come like two or three inches above my naval, and dig into my stomach as I sit. My mom bought me a pair by accident and i tried them on and came out to her, and she apologized because number one they looked really bad on me, and number two she could tell how uncomfortable they were.

For example i'm dressed up today for a presentation i have to give, and I'm wearing black "low cut" pants with white pin stripes (they look awesome), and a maroon shirt (blouse). it completly covers up my stomach, and the outfit looks great and very professional. if i was wearing the other kind of pants they would come up half my chest..

and I can't stand belly piercings.. or nose piercings.. I don't even have my ears pierced.
