She went to college to boost her chances of finding a great job once she got out of school, but now that that hasn't happened, Trina Thompson wants her money back.

Thompson, a graduate of Monroe College, is suing her school for the $70,000 she spent on tuition because she hasn't found solid employment since receiving her bachelor's degree in April, according to a published report.

I don’t see how you don’t think her lawsuit is fair. In this economy, she should have no problem finding the job of her dreams in a few months. They owe her tuition money back.

haha well -I would be mad at the school for not caring what happens to me after graduation. Colleges need to help their students out after they graduate! Career services need to work harder to find more suitable positions. If they truly did their best to find somewhere for her to work, including on campus jobs or something than they don’t deserve this. Suing is pretty dumb though - ill have to admit. Suing is not going to help anything but to make your debt worse because of lawyer expenses and court expenses… etc.

Has anyone else researched what ‘Monroe College’ actually is? It’s a proprietary college of business and health sciences, probably similar to something like ITT Tech that promises its graduates employable skills in their incessant sales pitch.

I’ve heard of it, I’m not really familiar with it. But if they promise employable skills, then she got the skills, right? If she came out as clueless as she went in, then I guess I could understand her case but unless the literally promise a job…
