Hi Friends,

I am going to graduate from high school in 2013. As of now I have 3.6 GPA and have 1960 in SAT. I want to do Medicine. I am very new to this forum. I have lots of Service Hours, which includes Hospitals, Non-Profit Organizations, Library etc. What are my possibilities and suggest me what are the possible colleges I can get the admission. Any help is appreciated.

Medicine is a graduate program. First you need to get an undergraduate degree, take premedical class requirements, score well on a difficult test, and more. There is a forum on pre-med topics. Start there.

By the way, from your post, I think your first language may not be English. You’ll need to take more English classes, because a doctor needs to be able to write and speak expertly with no effort.

That raises another question. If you aren’t a citizen or permanent resident, a U.S. medical school is very unlikely to admit you. Again, see the pre-med topics.

Do a search for thread related to medicine, pre-med and premed on cc and you’ll get lots of good advice. The bottom line is - most reputable schools will prepare you adequate for medical school if you take the required pre-med classes. You need a high GPA and a good MCAT score. And avoid going into debt as an undergrad because medical school is very expensive.

After that, any reputable school that will enable you to excel is fine. I suggest you use the college search feature on CC or on other web sites to help develop some criteria for choosing schools - location, size, cost, culture, etc…
