Hi, this is my first post here, so please pardon any mistakes and such. So, I am a middle school student, and I get good grades, straight A's. I was wondering if this changes in high school and college (is it harder for students that are usually" smart"?) Thanks.

In my experience, high school classes actually challenge me (some of them, anyway). In middle school I got straight A’s easily but it has been a lot harder to maintain a relatively high GPA in high school. I wouldn’t know about college, though. Just make sure you take classes at your level. Try your best and stay on top of everything.

Ok, thanks for replying! Btw, would you have any tips for staying on top of things, from your experience? @twirlergirl42

The number one thing is DON’T PROCRASTINATE!! It’s very tempting to leave all your work until 7 or 8 o’clock, but you’ll be questioning why you did it at 1:30 in the morning while scrambling to finish an English paper. Get involved, but not so involved you don’t have any time for homework or social stuff. If you ever feel incredibly overwhelmed, go talk to someone about it. You’ll feel much better. I’m sure you’ll be fine. :)

College is harder than high school and high school is harder than middle school, but in my experience you adjust pretty fast. I’ve managed to get good grades without being all that great of a student.

I adjusted during my first year of high school. It is more difficult. If you’re hardworking and bright, you shouldn’t have a problem. Although I will warn you, you won’t be able to get away with the same lack of effort as you can in middle school. (Or at least, not as much so.)

Haha, thanks for all of the replies! I definitely will think about all of these things when I get into high school!

You have to work a lot harder to get the same grades in high school but it’s okay.

If you are smart, you don’t need to work a lot harder.

It’s not really that high school is hard…middle school is just insanely easy.

HS success can easily be influenced by your school and your teachers.

I would say to actually be careful of those really hard classes. I took Honors Bio at our school, which is a harder version of AP Bio. Although I learned a lot, I hated nearly every minute. I was smart enough to get in the class, not smart enough to get an A. I have a B+, and it’s just sort of depressing. I should not have taken this class. One honors class will not affect me regarding college, while my GPA probably will. Do what’s best for your mental health.

I agree. I get all A’s for the most part, but last year I didn’t have a good teacher for AP Human Geography.

It gets slightly harder every year, but its nothing daunting. Its not like one year you are doing Pr-Algebra and reading Cat in the Hat and the next you are doing Linear Algebra and reading Finnegan’s Wake
