College in the u.s

Hey guyz,

Can some one please explain how undergrad college works in he u.s?

Like I want to major in Micro Economics and Business ( preferably international business). Once I receive my letter of acceptance what do i do from there? Do i have to register for courses within the college?

Do I register online? When I go to the college? Is their a minimum or maximum amount of courses?

Thanks! Please include anything you can think about!

Are you enrolled already? If so, which one? And where are the instructions to register from your school?

Admissions to college is not guaranteed in the US. Find a book or two about college admissions in the US and read about how it works. When you decide which school(s) to apply to, read their websites and follow the instructions. If you are admitted and decide to go to a specific school, follow their instructions for enrolling and selecting classes.

Also, read as much as you can on College Confidential - it will paint the picture for you.

If you have already been accepted by a college/university that you plan to attend, you should be receiving emails from them that tell you when and how to register.

If you are just starting to investigate colleges and universities in the US, read through everything at https://www.educationusa.info/</a> then contact the counselors at the advising center closest to you: https://www.educationusa.info/centers.php</a> They can help you find out the answers to your questions.

@happymomof1: you’re like the fairy godmother of international students in need of assistance! You are a GREAT ASSET to cc!

To answer your question, we need to know if you’re a high school student who expects to apply for Fall 2014 (or later), or if you’re a student who was admitted to a college. In that case, indicate the college since colleges are all different in the US.
In the meanwhile, you could
1° if you’re in high school, get the Fiske Guide, and/or Insider’s Guide to the Colleges, and/or Princeton review’s best colleges
or
2° if you’re about to start this Fall, The Thinking Student’s Guide to College and The Naked Roommate.
