Have only had to show ID at pharmacy when picking up Sudafed or narcotics as well.
If you/she replace the license online (allowed for Mass. license) you can get a printout that can be used for some purposes until replacement license arrives.
I’m curious as to how this was resolved. Since it was posted on Tuesday, I’m assuming that everything has been handled - or almost handled - by this point.
Connecticut takes a new photo for a replacement license. I know this because MY replacement license has a photo of me on a no makeup/bad hair day.
@tutumom Thanks for asking Guys, I posted this as soon as she texted me she had lost these things since I wanted to be sure I covered all bases. Scanned her passport, found a copy of her drivers license that she was given when she passed her test (fist bump @Beenthere22 our state does this, too!) threw in the high school id and Social Security card for good measure and the link on how to obtain a new DL online and said a prayer or twelve in the span of 30 minutes and then I waited. Annnnd waited.
And maybe I would still be waiting if I hadn’t made the hubs text her to ask if she picked up her prescription and she said, “Oh, yeah.Tell mom thanks. I just showed the pharmacy a copy of my passport. NBD.”
NBD? No big deal. I need a shirt that says that. Just to remind myself. I basically sent her enough documentation to leave the country and all she needed was to pick up a prescription. Did I mention I looked into FedEx overnight to send the passport? I think I need to look into a prescription. For myself.
Thanks to all of you for your suggestions.
My out of town CT kid renewed a license once and they used his previous picture. Done via mail or something, kid wasn’t here
My DD had at least 3 coats stolen from social events at her HYP college. Once we started to put ugly iron-on patches with her name over the labels, the coats weren’t nicked. She had a cross-over strap small purse she could wear, and keep on her.
The school has a system in place. I don’t know what it is, but your daughter’s RA can point her in the right direction.
Have her ask the RA. Or go to the Bursar’s office. Or check the school website.
She’ll let you know which documentation she needs from you after she finds out the procedure.
As to the prescription, she asks at the pharmacy. They’ll let her know what steps to follow.
This is timely. My daughter is leaving for a HS-related trip without us next week, and my biggest fear is she’ll lose her wallet with her state ID.
My D has an ID wallet on a lanyard around her neck. She used to keep her school ID in a holder on the back of her phone but this is easier for having it handy for the bus and meals and such.
^^My daughter did this for her travel abroad in high school. She came walking off that plane looking like a drowned rat (she was really sick) but that neon green pouch was swinging from her neck with her passport in it.
Almost exactly a year ago at a frat formal my son calls from his gf’s phone at 2am to tell me he lost his wallet, car keys and cell phone. On top of that they were 2 1/2 hours from campus and he had driven. We cancelled his cards etc. The next morning he found his wallet and car keys. The phone was gone for good. Still had to wire money to his gf so they had cash to buy gas to get back to campus since we cancelled his debit card. Kids!
@fauve I love the ugly patches idea! lol
I’m honestly surprised as I’ve seen a lanyard, she carries a tiny id wristlet but this times decides to put in her jacket. The good thing was no debit/credit cards.
Now I have to follow up that she gets on the Driver’s license replacement since she will need it to fly home next month.
@momocarly Yes, kids!
Lanyards are only for newbies, so I was told.
@CottonTales You’re probably right. They probably need to move away from room keys at some point. Then again the pharmacy and airport should use those finger scanners. Even my gym has them.
It’s expensive to replace locks on every dorm room door, but it seems like it needs to happen eventually. They already know who you are when you swipe in to any building, so it seems they could grant access to a particular room that way too.
I won’t see it, my last trip to Amherst is next month!
Usually at a pharmacy you say your name and birthdate and that is enough info for them.
Not too expensive when they use interchangeable core locks (which some college dorms decades ago had), where they just send someone with the core changing key and a different keyed lock cylinder to rekey the lock in a few seconds.
But then some may have gone to electronic locks and card keys since then.
@OHMomof2 You never know, you may just find yourself back there! I’ve seen where some alum have their weddings at Amherst
