College List

About 6 months before I apply to colleges... Figured I should probably get started on a list. I already know some schools I like so I will give some and see what you guys think about the coherency of the list and what schools could be added, especially matches/safeties.

Amherst
Brown
Pomona
Hamilton
Stanford
Chicago
Reed
Williams

Those are a couple schools I've looked into and found attractive, please help me in getting some matches or safeties...and some other similar reach schools.

Hard to say without stats and criteria that you’ve thought about. You might want to look more at mid-western LACs----Grinnel and Kenyon, for example. Also Colby. If you want more artsy, maybe Skidmore. Check which ones seem to care about demonstrated interest and schedule some interviews; then you can plan to visit places that are close to each other. If you go to Hamilton, check out Colgate. Middlebury is only about two hours from Williams. Etc.

Hi 676 and welcome! Please post your anticipated SATs, GPA, class rank, likes and dislikes, geographic limitations, financial concerns, preferred setting and ambience, etc.

So I have little financial or geographical concerns. 3.85 UW, retaking my 2040 SAT, looking to break 2100, top 10% of class, URM–AA. I want a school with a pretty relaxed curriculum, quite intellectual, very strong profs, well known enough to get a job…

what State are you from? What are your ECs?

What do you want to major in? Or, if you’re not sure, what’s a definite interest for you?

“Amherst
Brown
Pomona
Hamilton
Stanford
Chicago
Reed
Williams…”

I would add these colleges:
Swarthmore
Dartmouth
WUSTL
Northwestern

For matches/safeties: look at your own state’s public schools.
