College Match

I am looking for a private college with mostly preppy upper-class students with a medium to high acceptance rate. My list so far is High point, Furman, Elon, St. Lawrence, Sewanee, Trinity, and Wofford. Thank you for your help.

Rollins College (in Orlando) is perhaps a bit more party-ish than a school like Furman and a bit less preppy than a school like Sewanee, but it definitely attracts upper-class students and has a fairly high admission rate.

It is also perennially at or near the top of the heap in the US News ratings of regional universities (though it is much more a liberal arts college than an actual university).

Of the schools on your list, Trinity is the one that is most “preppy” in the old-school sense of the term–i.e., it attracts lots of students who attended elite (and expensive) Northeastern boarding schools, and it shuttles lots of these prepsters to finance jobs on Wall Street. Sewanee is a kind of Tennessee analogue of Trinity, but it is very rural and boasts a uniquely Southern-traditionalist vibe that sets it apart from the Northern schools. Elon would be the college on your list that is most equivalent to Rollins both demographically and culturally.

Gettysburg

Wheaton (MA), Loyola MD, Marist, Lake Forest (IL), Providence. If you are male, Hampden-Sydney. If you include publics-Miami of Ohio, College of Charleston.

I added Gettysburg! Thank you.

I am a female and not considering any public. I added Loyola and Providence.

Hartwick?

Just curious, why is going to a school with mostly upper class students important to you?

I have gone to school with upper-class kids my whole life. I have no problems with people from the middle or lower class at all. Peoples financial state doesn’t define them. I said that because its a general term of the environment I am used to being in and I am looking for a similar environment that I have been in throughout school.

Hartwick didn’t seem right for me. Thank you for the recommendation!

My updated college list is High Point, Wofford, Elon, Furman, Hobart and William Smith, Loyola, Rollins, University of San Diego. I am a female looking for a small to medium-sized private college with preppy upper-class students. I really appreciate all of the help so far.

Acceptance rate 50 or higher

Fairfield? St Lawrence University ? Roger Williams ? Just random thoughts.

I added Roger Williams! Thank you

Seconding Fairfield. What about Sweet Briar? Bryant? Marist? Trinity CT? Sewanee? Lake Forest? St Thomas (MN)?
I’d cross out HPU, unless you really don’t like learning and care only about a country club atmosphere.

Sweetbriar is not co-ed. I am not interested in Bryant, St Thomas or lake forest. Marist and trinity’s acceptance rate are to low. Thank you for the suggestions i really appreciate it

Quinnipiac University

When you visit Roger Williams. Also visit Salve Regina in Newport Ri. Prep school feel, crazy location near the mansions on cliff walk and beautiful campus. And a good school too.
