Which one would be better for software engineering-- College of engineering or iSchool?

Oh hey, Software engineering! I was only accepted for software engineering, but I’ll tell you what I know. Perhaps a current student can clarify.

I completely forget what I put on my application, but my Drexel portal has my college listed as Information Sci & Technology (the iSchool). Doing a little internet research, it seems that it doesn’t really matter either or. I quote Drexel:

“The BSSE degree is a multidisciplinary University degree sponsored by the College of Engineering and the College of Information Science and Technology.”

( [Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering](http://www.cs.drexel.edu/~spiros/bsse/) )

As the credit requirements are the same, I’d imagine you’d be taking the same courses. So it’s really just the same program. But from all the mail I’ve been getting, the iSchool seems like a more close-knit specialized community since it only has three majors (IS, IT, and SE), all centralized in in the Rush building with all their computers and such. I’d imagine the College of Engineering would be all engineering majors, from electrical to chemical to whatever else they have. But as I see Software Engineering, it’s most important aspect is the team environment, working with other people and your client to make the software they need. And to me, that sounds less like engineering. For some reason. And from the website, the iSchool just seems like a happy place where geeks run amok. So I’d rather the iSchool.

In any case, when I visited Drexel, an admissions represented saw I was accepted to the SE program and commented on what a great program it is at Drexel. And I think SE majors are, on average, the highest paid in their co-ops. Nice, right?

Thanks for your point of view on this. I was doing a little of research on the web and found out there is two fields in software engineering-- system software and applications. (It’s #8 and #11 below)

I was thinking that college of engineering teaches one aspect of it while ischool teaches another. On the college of engineering website, software engineering is in the computer science department. iSchool, on the other hand is mixed together with information system and technology. Can somebody tell if there is a difference?
