I really hope so but on their instagram they said 28-31
I don’t think so… since their IG said 28-31. BUT that would be awesome!
@3flgirls, she did find a roommate recently. She’s on Instagram but prior to admission was never a big user of it …her followers/use increased exponentially once she got into the W&M loop (her schooling has been all-virtual this year and most ECs cancelled so not much else to do!)
Many of the ED1 students were athletes and found roommates with others on their teams. My D held off until after ED 2. Then, some students started a roommate search group that anyone could join, including zoom group Intros/chats and creation of a list of students interested in looking. Students could write something about themselves and what they were looking for in a roommate, and contact information. My D texted with several before finding her roommate. It was a little nerve-wracking for her, as she tends to be a fairly private person and a little shy until she gets to know people, but all-in-all a good experience to put herself out there more than she’s used to. The best thing is that she continues to text with several friendly girls, even though they didn’t end up as roommates, so now she feels she won’t be a complete stranger when she gets to campus. Since she found out in December where she was going to school she just didn’t want to wait until July or later for the random matching process but I know that many do, and it works out fine. She might have waited for the RD pool before looking but was a little afraid to lose a roommate due to the heavy waitlists happening this year. So, if a student is absolutely committed to W&M and NOT taking any waitlists, they may have an easier time finding a roommate early if they let that be known. I hope any students on a waitlist will be honest about that possibility!
THANK YOU so much for all this info. Your daughter sounds like mine, which is not surprising since they both wanted W&M as their top choice. I will share this with her, she is aware of that roommate search group, there was also someone on the orientation zoom who was facilitating. The girls all seem so wonderful and share very similar interests. I will encourage her to not wait, but to take advantage of this time for sure. Totally agree about the WL, W&M is competitive with top tier schools, so who knows!!
For another point of view, my D21 was also accepted ED1 to W&M. She’s moderately social, but has decided to go the regular route of filling out a roommate questionnaire when the time comes. I’m sure there will be plenty of girls left for the college to match her with.
Yes, I think there’s no “best” way of finding a roommate. I know by reading on this forum that there’s no guarantee of compatibility with either method. There’s something to be said for enjoying a surprise element, keeping an open mind, and learning to enjoy different kinds of personalities. Often random matches work beautifully. In going random, there may be fewer loaded expectations and less pressure on roommates to become “besties” as long as they get along and respect each other. Sometimes people learn a lot by getting to know a person well who, at first meeting, didn’t seem like a person they’d be compatible with. Personally, I’m more go-with-the flow about such things but my daughter likes the security of feeling that she knows what she’s getting into (even though there’s no way in advance to really know)!
Agreed and fingers crossed for happy matches either way!
YES! Agreed. Our girls will do just fine no matter what. I think I’ll explain all her options and she can pick how she’s like to proceed. Best of luck to all
So when do we think decisions are coming out? What are they waiting for?
Who knows? All they have said is early April.
Yes, early April. I can’t imagine past Ivy Day, which is 4/6. I think next week is a big possibility, as this is Passover weekend and next weekend is Easter, so sometime in between makes sense.
Are we positive theres no chance of it today? I feel like a lot of schools are releasing today to meet that by April 1st deadline.
Who knows?
anyone know the statistics of the upcoming class? How many applicants? etc. So far I’ve been denied from every single college I’ve applied to. Just want to know if I should even bother keeping my hopes up with W&M. Thanks
It seems that W&M’s apps were up almost 25% this year, according to a recent poster. Brutal year for admissions to all selective schools…did you apply to any safety schools?
Good luck with William &Mary!
Every year after May 1, the general forum posts a list of schools that did not yield their expected number of committed students and are still open for enrollment. So if you find yourself without a school and you decide against a gap year, look for this on CC or create a new post on the forum to ask about it.
Wow that’s incredibly helpful thank you so much for that. Yeah I did apply to safeties, didn’t get in. I had a 4.8 too. Live and learn I guess. thanks again
That’s really rough! Sometimes high-stats kids are rejected from safeties that assume you wouldn’t choose them. Worse comes to worst, maybe you could contact the AO of your favorite safety and ask if they’d reconsider you. It can’t hurt!
Did you show strong interest in William & Mary? The school seems to love that. If so, with that GPA, I’d say you have a fighting chance
I got deferred from ED2 and I sent them a letter of continued interest where I mentioned that I would commit if they accepted me. I am hoping for the best. Thank you again
Well, I’m rooting for you.
@Sparkle626 @CCollegeU
Ha! My logic worked for WFU announcing today. Hope you got good news. Waitlisted here… which is fine. Wasn’t top choice.
Good luck!
