I thought they had said “early April” which is better than “mid-April”, but at this point just release a date and time. I understand they were swamped this year, but it’s time to just give us a date. (Wake Forest, too.)
Yes, waiting on both for my son too
excruciating
At least Wake Forest has been a little more specific. On their ig they said March 28th-31st. W&M has given us nothing…
Sorry, you’re right - comment from admissions in Instragram was “notifications will be sent by early April” (I just double checked) - sorry for the misinformation earlier - I corrected the post!
stiiiiiilllll . . .
If I worked in a college admissions office, I’d push to get these decisions out quickly. In a year as stressful as this one, kids are going to make their decision and the slow responders (schools) will be left out.
In the application process, the pressure is on the kids to make a good impression. Once applications are in, the pressure falls on the school to make a good impression - the tables flip.
Early-April . . . mid-April
It’s all the same at this point, lol.
Just release the date!
Preach!
Anyone have the option to withdraw application? We do not which is making me think it is sooner vs later.
W&M was my son’s top choice and he was thrilled to be admitted. We followed up with admissions and the bursar several days ago to ensure his deposit was received and he was set before he informed other schools of his decision. Since he has several friends still waiting to hear from W&M, we asked admissions about the status of admissions decisions; they were very gracious on the phone. Our takeaways were as fol:
- They have received nearly 25% more applications than ever before.
- Many applications were submitted without standardized test scores.
- As a state school, W&M strives to maintain undergrad student population of approx 65% in-state/35% OOS.
- Most applicants have truly superb academic and extracurricular records.
- Taking into account 1-4 above, they are committed to ensuring every application gets a truly thorough, holistic review. This takes time and is the reason why they have modified the release date from April 1 to early April.
Continued best wishes to all.
Yes, I agree with what you’re saying. Unfortunately some of the top schools will always still have a little bit of an edge. The Ivys for instance are releasing 4/6 but i don’t think it will hurt their yield at all. They don’t need to get back to applicants quickly for fear of losing them. It’s looking like the waiting list is going to be a huge factor this year too so I hope this excruciating wait doesn’t extend into the summer months for the many students applying to the top schools.
Agreed - I don’t think Harvard is worrying too much They get to set their own rules. Below the top 15 schools…different story.
I completely understand and admire their commitment, truly. I think the problem, at least for me, is the uncertainty. They could say decisions will be released on 4/15 and I’d say fine, we’ll figure things out from there. So it’s fine that they’re releasing in April. (Well, March would be better of course!) Just figure it out and release a date.
Considering W&M less and less as time goes on. Even if accepted, at that point I will probably be set on somewhere else. Having to choose by May 1st while not hearing back until April is just ridiculous, in my opinion.
If almost everywhere else has been able to reasonably accommodate an increase in applications, I don’t understand why they can’t do the same. Like others, I appreciate a commitment to a thorough process, though.
I’m nervous and excited for all of you! My D was admitted to W&M ED and I remember how sick and giddy we felt in the days before…it must be much harder now after the months of waiting. However your admissions decision for W&M turns out, I hope you will embrace your future school enthusiastically, with no looking back!
Good luck to everyone…It will be OK…each of you will find a place to thrive in.
My D will be so excited to meet her new classmates!
Hey there - has your daughter done the social media thing to search for a roommate yet, or is she waiting for the actual process to start in April/May? My D has seen so many amazing people on the W&M Class of 2025 accounts, but isn’t a big social media person, so just wondering.
I wonder how much notice they’ll give before releasing. If this year they will just announce the same day, a day ahead, …?
@CCollegeU and @Sparkle626
I’m feeling like tomorrow for WFU! They released ED 1 & 2 on Fridays at 8pm. Tomorrow is last Friday of March.
From your lips to admissions’ ears
