Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone knows whether 1693 scholar candidate notifications have gone out. (Wondering if we should lose hope, haha. :)) I know there are so very many highly qualified applicants and it was always a long shot.
My out-of-state son in Texas received his cypher postcard today - very excited to have this option!
My son received a cypher postcard today! So exciting!!! Good luck to all of the applicants!
Would y’all mind sharing stats, those who received cypher postcards?
My son OOS - UW GPA 3.92, Weighted 4.434, ACT 35, 11 total AP’s in rigorous public high school, 4 yr varsity swimming and related EC’s to IR/Global Studies including State Dept. NSLI-Y summer scholarship to study Hindi.
thanks! That gives me some hope! LOL Congratulations to your son!!!
The waiting is awful!
My son is in state. 4.36 GPA, applied test optional. He is an IB diploma candidate. Good luck to everyone!!!
Cypher yesterday!!
IS (nova)
GPA 4.7, ACT 36, sports and community service, leadership, 9AP (5’s and 2 4’s)
No cypher here – in case these stats help anyone I hate how colleges are already dividing up students even before they start!! Ugh.
OOS, 4.4 GPA, most rigorous AP schedule possible at his HS, #1 in class (though a small class), 35 ACT, editor of YB, one national recognition in ECs, basic sports and volunteering but nothing else extraordinary.
You sound extraordinary to me. W&M will be lucky to have you. And I’ve heard that Cyphers can be very much dependent on timing of when your app gets read. Your credentials make me think that even more (plus crazy USPS delays right now).
No cypher here either & it’s SO stressful for these kids. Daughter stats: OOS, GPA
4.4
Tough school to get into from OOS, very good deal for those from Virginia. When we attended a campus tour last year, admissions mentioned as a state school they are required to have 60%+ of entering undergrad classes come from in-state. UVA said same thing. Cal and NC schools are also very difficult to get into from OOS. See footnote to top table at fol page: Class Profile | William & Mary . Best of luck to all.
I found the in vs out of state mix of 65/35% interesting. Also ,Class of 2024 was 61% female! Maybe easier to get in as a male? UT Austin only 8% out of state/international.
Yeah, my son is OOS…but I believe that public state schools should accept more students from in state than out. He loved the campus/location and has high stats and everything needed. It’s all a crapshoot!
FYI, RD release blogpost from last year is available here: 2020 Regular Decisions Released - What Now? - The William & Mary Blogs
I was excited thinking it was for this year! LOL
Me too
Anyone hear anything about potential decision date?
I think last year was March 23.
Received a post card here in NY! So excited
