College Options for Oklahoma Student

I am currently a high school student, and like most high school students, I am looking for a college to go too. I have already decided that if I do not get accepted to a large private school, which usually offer more financial aid, I will attended a state school in Oklahoma my home state, or a school that would give me in-state tuition. I am currently trying to decide between Oklahoma State or OU, but it is a very tough decision. Both of my parents have multiple degrees from Oklahoma State and I have also lived in Stillwater for about ten years of my life. I love Oklahoma State and have experienced many amazing things, but I also want to experience other things somewhere else. I am currently thinking of Physics or Mathematics as my major and I can get into both Universities Honors programs, and probably get a good chunk of school paid for, but which should I choose. I want to experience other things but it would be hard to do those in a rival school and in a rival town. This time is so confusing and I am not sure what to do I suppose I will choose the one that gives me the best financial aid package.

You can apply to both OU and OSU and decide later if you get admitted to both.

GPA? SAT? SATIIs? have you run the net price calculators? have you a commitment from your parents on what they’ll pay?

You should apply to both
But since you want to experience something new (as evidenced by your applying to private schools OOS) and since you’ve lived in Stillwater, it seems that the logical choice would be Norman and OU… ;-)

What are your scores and GPA? Include SAT breakdown.

What is your GPA?

FA is based on family finances. Schools that give great aid will not give you more than THEY think you need. The idea that privates give more aid only works at some privates AND only if THEY think you need that much. They may decide that you only need half as much as YOU think you need. They may say that your family should pay $25k per year, but your family can only pay $10k. Have your parents run the NPCs.

And the best choice!

To the OP, do you qualify for OLAP? If not, how much do your parents make per year? Also what are your GPA and ACT scores? I assume >3.8 and 30+ respectively, but correct me if I’m wrong.

What level of math are you currently in?

How large do you want the private school to be? If you want to know what a medium sized private feels like, I would encourage you to tour the University of Tulsa (not saying you should go there).
