I’m wondering what colleges would be a good fit for me… I’m not too sure what I want to study in, but I’m going with the medical path right now. I’m a senior and need a lost of colleges I should apply to.

I don’t have phenomenal ECs and I am shy so my LORs cannot be too good.
I live in Georgia. I would like to go OOS but not too far.
You should get a ball park figure from your parents. Some places are now pushing $80k per year once books, travel, etc. are included. If your family has just been looking at in-state public universities, they might have that cost of attendance in mind.
Your LORs will be about your performance in class. Since your GPA is good, you shouldn’t have to worry about those at all. Nhave you talked about this with your guidance counselor or your science teachers? They shoukd have useful ideas for you.
Your GPA, class rank, and test scores give you lots of good options. You are a viable applicant just about everywhere. What sort of college environment do you think you’d like? Big? Small? City? Rural?
What possible major? Just about anything so long as you can fit in the pre-med requirements? Something STEM?
@happymomof1 thanks. I guess ball park would be 50k or less. I thought LORs were just about classroom performance, but many of my teachers told me they wouldn’t write one for me because I don’t talk enough and therefore they dont know me well enough—I already have two written from teachers who actually volunteered after my counselor told my remaining teachers that no one would write one.
I don’t care too much for size, probably not too big, nor too small. I was just rejected from Vanderbilt, so that’s a big disappointment, as I’ve been wanting to go there for the past 5 years.
As someone who was also rejected from vanderbilt and ended up at SMU I would throw that on the list. I know you said out of state but looking at Emory and Georgia tech may be good options. Others could be umimi and tulane. I know youd get some good scholarship at SMU (as I am here on it myself). Those are southern-ish (location yes, but many kids from all over) private schools (except gt) that have similar missions and may be excellent options
Yes, LORs are about classroom performance, but if you don’t participate much in class, then it is true that teachers (unfortunately) don’t get much of a sense of who you are. This is something to think about when you get to college. How are you going to make certain that your professors do know you well enough for the inevitable LORs you will need for grad school or med school? It might be easier for you to form one-on-one relationships then because of visiting during office hours.
