College papers

I'm in high school, but I'm taking some college classes and have to write cited papers for two of them. I've written cited papers for high school before, but I've never written any in which the content would be taken seriously. I know what topics I want to write about, but I don't know where to start. Does anyone know where I can find examples or help for starting a paper?

Btw, they're completely opposite in terms of subject area (econ and classical tragedy).

Are you talking about papers written specifically for the classes you’re taking? If so, you might want to talk to the professors about your topics. It seriously helps.

For a lot of people, college is the first time they’ll footnote an essay. Talk to the professors, or just give it a go and then read their comments.

Everyone gets the hang of the college style eventually, but no one is expected to do it straight away.

(If you google “Chicago style paper” though, the first result is a PDF of a sample essay with endnotes)

The best way to start a first draft is to state your argument clearly and concisely.

Many colleges have Research Writing as the first English course that a student takes and the course takes students through the process of writing a research paper. The process is usually described in a textbook.

It looks like it’s a bit late in the semester for you to go through a textbook so you might look around for a college writing website that will give you the basics on writing a research paper.

Is the paper due this month?
