College Prep Applicants: Advice from QB Scholars

Hi Everybody! So I am a current high school senior who was a College Prep Scholar and Fein Fellow last year and a College Match Finalist this year, I will try and answer some questions…

@vale2015 CPS and match are both long apps, I can understand why it might seem stressful. Your best bet is to take the application one step at a time. I can’t post the link to the group, but just paste the following after the Facebook address /groups/QuestieFamily/

Once you go to the Facebook group you will see a website with essays that “worked” from former finalists and scholars, this might help you with the essay. I personally chose a topic that was not about overcoming adversity in any way but rather I discussed an experience that changed my perspective on things. You truly don’t need to write a tear-jerker, the essay I described I used for both CPS and Match (as well as the Common App and some scholarships), it has been met with good feedback.

@artsygirl13 thank you!!!
This should really help!

elnamo - I think you need to do more reading to understand QB. 1) you can apply Jr year CPS for a summer scholarship and 2) you can apply very early Sr year before most college applications for the Questbridge Finalist program. You cannot apply after you are accepted to colleges, that would be too late. If you are named a Finalist you have a chance to try to match with a partner college that gives you admission with a full scholarship. If you choose not to match or you don’t get matched, you apply to college just like regularly except you can add your QB application or sometimes it replaces your regular application and you get financial aid just like the college usually gives, using Federal Aid, college institutional aid, sometimes loans etc.
