So I’m applying to college this year and a lot of the schools that I am applying to recommend having teachers from junior or senior year write the recommendations. However, my 10th grade honors chem teacher really loved me and I really believe that she’ll write the best letter, so I asked her for a rec. Also, I asked my 10th/12th grade english teacher. Is this an okay choice or will this hurt my application?
It should be fine. Sometimes the best choices are not the standard choices.
It would only hurt you if your schools require the teacher to be from junior or senior year- barnard is one that does this. Some schools make an exception for their rule for honors/AP teachers (Stanford is an example). You will have to check each school’s website for their specific rules.
