Hello,

I have recently been admitted to the University of Virginia as a College Science Scholar and Echols Scholar. I will be visiting the campus for the first time next week and have scoured old discussion treads/UVa website for more information, but I am not satisfied with the amount of information available. Therefore, I was wondering if current students in these programs could post their thoughts and experiences regarding the opportunities available to them as scholars. I am interested in pursuing an MD (potentially an MD-PhD) after college, so I would greatly appreciate any input regarding how participating in these scholar programs has helped facilitate the medical/grad school process and how these scholar opportunities compare to those found in a “top 10” university.

I was recently admitted (regular decision applicant). I don’t have an answer to your question, but I was wondering when you were notified that you had been notified of your Echols status and if you applied as a regular decision or early action applicant?

I applied and was admitted through regular decision and was notified of my scholar status the day after regular decision notifications came out.
