hey!

I remember searching for colleges last year... oh those warm fuzzy feelings.... well after all the searching I am now a freshman at Kenyon and lovin it... there are good things and bad... and even though I am just a freshman... I can try to answer any questions anybody has. So good luck and ... the searching will be over before you know it

My daughter is thinking of applying this fall. So what is good and not so good about your Kenyon experiences so far? Are you enjoying your classes? Having fun too?

So far my experience here at Kenyon has been amazing. I have met people from across the globe. All my professors are willing to go way out of there way to help me understand the material. The campus is beautiful! And you are able to experience so many clubs without prior experience. There is not much bad. Sometimes you can feel like your in a bubble, but for example. I just went to Easton (columbus's mall) with the social board yesterday and had a great time. I hope this helped

Kenyon has risen to the top one or two colleges on my daughter's list. She's in the top 5% of her class, 2100 SAT, and loves English, film, drama and art. She says Kenyon has about the best art department of the small liberal arts colleges she is applying to. Do you know any art students there? Are they happy with their courses and professors? Are there any problems getting into the art classes?

you mentioned the Kenyon bubble... how much of an issue is this? do students get off campus much? do they feel isolated at times? if you don't have a car is it a disadvantage when you feel like escaping the bubble? i would imagine that this is not as big a deal for a freshman, but it becomes more of an issue the longer you are there. yes, no, maybe?

Sorry it took me so long to respond. First, the art department has been extremely helpful and I have not even taken an art class yet (I am taking photo next semester). Kenyon is planning to build the new art facilities very soon. It actually has been a source of controversy due to destroying some older buildings. The cool thing about Kenyon as well as other liberal arts colleges is that you can easily take art classes as well as... econ classes for example and not feel overwhelmed and even major in both.

The Kenyon bubble is never a problem. I find that I am so busy with current work I do not care haha. When I was searching colleges, having a strong community was a top priority, and that is what Kenyon has. Breaks are spread out also so there is always a relief period to enter the outside world. Also, many many speakers come and talk about current affairs like terrorism... our world policy... um lots of other stuff... so we are always aware...

Haha, your daughter sounds just like me, except for the drama, film and art. Where else is she applying? Kenyon is basically my #2 or #3 school.
