College Selection

I have been browsing through colleges recently as my junior year is neraly over with one quarter to go. I'm having some trouble selecting schools in the US partly because I have no attachment to the US and I'd really prefer going to school in Europe. I am a dual citizen of the United States and the Netherlands, so my options are considerably broadened.

Right now I am looking at Jacobs International University in Bremen, Germay as my main choice of a college. I'm not sure if anyone here has heard of it, but I'm also looking at the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands as an easy in school, but still a good school.

I'm looking at majoring in computer science, computer engineering, or information technology with minors in two languages. What are some good schools in the US that I should look into? In the US, I'm looking for a school in the northeast \ midatlantic. The trouble for me is that I am looking too deeply into admission requirements to determine which schools are good. Right now, though, Columbia University is my top US choice, and Carnegie Mellon and Johns Hopkins look really good too. Please make some recommendations on safer schools to apply to, because I'd hate to be left with nothing.

Thanks a lot If anyone needs to see my stats, I'll post them later.

Well, I'm thinking this would be better served in the College Selection forum.

I am a student at Jacobs University Bremen. I would be happy to answer any questions that you may have.

Well, there are some question I have that I probably can't look up at the school website. What are the students like? In general do the students like to get together to do things outside of class other than study? Are there many clubs there to get involved in? Is the surrounding area nice with a lot of things to do? And how hard is it to get into the school, and does it help to apply during the first round of admissions?

Thank you very much :)
