I am an international student and have been in the United States for 3 years. Both of my parents are currently graduate students at the U of MN (sponsored by the Royal Thai Government), so our family has no income (except for the living expenses that are given by their scholarships). With this in mind, I am looking for colleges (with engineering program) that will provide some kind of financial aid for international student. After I'm browsing thru the forum, I've came up with these choices:

illinois Institute of Tech.

Bucknell University

I have been accepted to the U of MN but they do not provide any financial support for internationals and I'm also illegible for acadimic scholarships offer by the U. I have also been looking at CalTech, Cornell, Wash U, Harvey Mudd but my ECs aren't very strong and after looking at the other threads, I got discouraged to apply to these places. Do you guys have any suggestion on colleges that might suit me?

don't look at other threads to gauge your EC level. It really depends on your high school and the competitiveness. There are alot of people that have good ECs because they go to trash high schools and get As wihout doing lots of work. I am at a very competitve public school, last year 8 people were accepted to MIT, 2 Princeton, 6 Harvard, 3 Yale, 3 Columbia, 18 Northwestern, 8 Cornell, 12 Georgetown, and the list goes on. Teachers make it impossible to get good grades in alot of upper level classes. There are plenty of people here who have not so great GPAs and some descent ECs and get into top schools. So, know how competitive your school is.

aka shoot higher, 3.95 is a great GPA

Thanks for your reply. Any other suggestions would also be greatly appreciated.
