College Teacher Rec, Son/Daughter of Prof.

Hi,

I was wondering how each of these two things may raise your chances of admission into a college.

If you recieve a great recomendation from a teacher at the college you're applying to and who is in the field you're applying to.

and

if you are a son or a daughter of a prof. at the college and may not have the best grades. ( I'm not, just wondering)

Thanks guys!

I took a class at Dartmouth this year (tested out of history at my high school) and my professor wrote me a letter of support for my other ED schools. I’m thinking that’s going to help a lot. How do you know the professor?

Some colleges will cover part of a faculty member’s child’s tuition, but it depends on things like tenure. I wouldn’t get a financial break at the college where my dad’s employed because he’s in the administrative branch, but my friend would because her mother’s a tenured Italian teacher. I don’t think that many schools give preferential treatment during the application process though.
