College to alter admissions practice

"Dartmouth will change its practices to protect the integrity of the admissions process for incoming athletes following a federal investigation that uncovered a widespread college admissions scandal and resulted in the arrest of 50 people.

Exactly what is the college “altering”? What they’re saying, Dave, is that they will continue doing what they’ve been doing all along but perhaps with a more jaundiced eye. Sheesh. Was there really a need for this post?

I read the article to indicate that the school went back and found no coach had supported an inappropriate applicant over the past 3 years, but that given the scandal they are adding an additional layer of review on all athletic recruits.

Given the Varsity Blues scandal this seems like a reasonable step to take. I would think this is a step most schools will be taking whether they admit to it or not. Kudos to Dartmouth for being up front with addressing the fact that scandal has resulted in some increased self examination and quality control, even though they are not aware of a specific problem at the College.
