Do you have any traditions associated with college? For example, are there certain things that you always do before school starts? Please try to keep it G-rated! :)

I graduated from college this past summer, but these were my traditions at Berkeley:

Start of the semester

My father always gives me his little spiel, saying that I should study hard because time goes faster than I think. He also adds that seeing a bad grade during a vacation would surely ruin the mood. :)

On the move-in day, I try to find out if there are any attractive ladies that live near my dorm. If so, I would try to make friends with them. :D

After buying the required textbooks, my parents and I would take a stroll around the campus and find out where my classes will be. However, we this after my third year, since it turned out that most of my later classes would be located in places that I was already familiar with.

During the school year

Whenever I see an interesting snack at a student store, I would buy some of it to share with my family.

PC Gamer is one of my favorite magazines. I loved reading the game reviews, especially those for bad games. After I went to a college dance for the first time and found it slightly disappointing, I decided to write a PC Gamer-style review for it, to send to the hosts. Since then, I have written a review for almost every dance I have attended.

End of the semester

After finishing a final, I would thank the professor for the things I've learned in their class. Showing appreciation to professors lets them know that you are not treating them as mere teaching machines, and there's always a chance, however slight, that they'll bump up my grade by a level or two.

Spend the remainder of my pre-paid meal points on junk food, much to the chagrin of my nutritionally conscious mother.

After each semester, my family would take a leisure trip. This relieves the stress that had built up during the few weeks before the final exams, and it's also a good excuse to consume all that junk food I had stockpiled (see #7).
