College Transfer Fall vs Spring

I’m a college freshman currently and am looking to transfer to a different college. Some of my college choices have the option to apply to the spring semester versus the fall semester. I would like to get out of my current school as soon as possible so the spring semester would be optimal, but from what I’ve heard, high school grades count a lot more applying for spring semester, and I didn’t do too hot in high school. My question is, is it possible to apply for the spring semester, and if I get rejected for the spring term, is it possible for me to be deferred to the fall application cycle?

Maybe try posting this in the transfer forum, you will probably get more helpful answers.

Moving

If you are rejected for spring you will not be deferred to the fall. A rejection is a rejection, not a deferral. And freshman applications are different from transfer apps.

If you apply for the spring, the only grades they will have to work with are your high school grades. So unless you are applying to places you were admitted to last year, but decided against, there might not be much point.

I see. In which case, I think I may hold out and just apply to transfer for the fall semester. That way I have a year of college under my belt. I’m most likely not going to apply for the spring term, but for curiosity’s sake, would it be possible to reapply but for the fall term if I was rejected for the spring term?

Sure. You can reapply as many times as you like.

Cool. Thank you all very much, it really helped!

Same situation. I’m still applying to the spring semester however because I am confident in my chances.
