Collegeboard CSS profile Problems

Yeah I have been trying to get on since about lunchtime…luckily mine isn’t due until November 2 so I think I’ll try at about 2am tomorrow and see if the lessened volume helps

It’s working again for me, finally!

Edit: And it kicked me off two minutes later. :/

UGH. I atleast I got to save one section. This is ridiculous.

only a little over an hour left and still no luck on getting in to finish…

are the deadlines all EST? Because if not, could we potentially submit after 12am and it be considered not late? At this point there’s no way I can get on before midnight…

I was afraid I was the only one. I have to get this CSS crap in by tomarrow and I thought it would be a cinch to do it because I have all the documents and all I need to do is fill out the little blanks on the computer sceen. Yeah Right. I keep getting “Time Out”! I don’t get it. I’m frustrated. I’m scared. I’m angry. If anyone can tell me what I’m doing wrong please, I beg you, Speak up!

ahh on CSS profile it says my college is taking it by NOV 3rd but on the college’s website it says Nov 1.

I have filled this out AGES ago but never pressed submit… AHHHH

does anyone know if we’re going to get penalized for sending it off tomorrow morning?
Was it like this in previous years? and were ppl penalized?

Yeah the thing is this probably happens every year so it’s not like they didn’t know about it.

I’ve been trying to get on for the past six hours just to register for the profile and it keeps sending me to “Time Out” and now it just decided to hate me and shut down all together. I sent an email to college board reporting my problem five hours ago and I get a “your message is really important to us but we don’t really care” reply. I need this to be done tonight and I am so stressed. I don’t know what to do!

have tried to file for almost 12 hours but was not able to access to application file. noticed after 12:05 am…the site was temporarily shut down…
Hope there won’t be any penalty…

It’s working now at 12:28 EST. Submit date reads 11/2/09. I was hoping since it was a west coast college, we’d get around that, but no such luck. I also had this finished the day before yesterday, but didnt want to hit submit until I had double and triple checked it. Oh well. I imagine if they want the kid anyway they dont hold this sort of thing against them, and if they’re looking for a reason not to take someone, this gives them a rationale and it wasn’t meant to be anyway.

I submitted mine at 4:28 am EST, and my submit date is 11/2/09 as well.
Collegeboard seriously needs to update their servers. I don’t want to be penalized for this.

I just recieved an email from CSS Profile and they said they let all colleges that use PROFILE know of the problems that occured over the weekend! hopefully Ill be good with submitting it today!!

…and THIS is one of the many many many many reasons parents keep telling their kids NOT to wait until the last minute for ANYTHING.

Well Cornell just answered me that today would be fine, as long as it’s in ASAP.
I’m guessing they’re being really understanding.

R124687, that may very well be true and I am all about not being a last minute cram-er and encourage the kids, but College Board charges for this service and they should be professional and saavy enough to anticipate this type of activity. Very poor showing by them, in my opinion.

The colleges are all aware of this issue now, then. That’s okay for the applicants. I’ve been advised by an adult familiar with the admission process at one very selective college that if a high school student makes best efforts to meet a deadline, a college will not penalize the student for the mistakes of fully grown adults.

Good luck to all of you applying for financial aid this year.

momofthreeboys.

I get that. But, in life, things happen that can’t be changed. Most colleges are very accepting of applications received just a bit late. They understand there are challenges, and they want the large applicant pool, and the money. They don’t bite the hand that feeds them.

HOWEVER…and I’m working through this with my daughter CONSTANTLY…it’s far too important a task and children need to learn that this can happen. I would assume adults would already know it. Especially in this age of technology. To assume a computer would be working AND not so deluged at the last minute, is folly. But…to each his own. I choose not to add the stress. And, as I said, the only reason I comment is because my own child can’t seem to learn this lesson either. One of MANY examples…she waited until she got a reminder that her scholarship applications weren’t yet in. In reality, she had 10 days left. But she hadn’t tracked the date and she didn’t know. She got grounded, and STILL wasn’t able to turn them in because they needed to have a contact for a recommendation. She hadn’t yet asked the teacher, and then was unable to reach him. So she was left with no choice but to send them in, and HOPE he would do the recommending (complicated, it was for more than an academic reference).
