Collegeboard NOT sending SAT scores

We just found out the collegeboard had a problem in October 2007 and did not send out some students SAT scores to their requested colleges.

Back in mid October, she added her 4 colleges to the collegeboard website that she wanted her scores sent to. It was the day before her deadline for the 4 free colleges.

On Jan 3rd 2008, she went in to add a 5th college. She then noticed that her other 4 requested colleges were now missing. We don't know when this occurred, but we know they were there in October. My wife called the collegeboard and after awhile found out they had a problem and "some" students SAT scores were not sent. She was told that they would be sent for free and we would receive a confirmation email in 5-7 business days.

On Jan 15, we still hadn't received an email, I called. They had no record of my wife's phone call and was told they would have to put in the request again and it would be another 5-7 business days. I asked for the supervisor, who then apologized and said we would get a phone call in 24-48 hours.

48 hours later I called. They said that the supervisor was in error for telling me that they would call me. It is std policy that the response time is 5-7 business day.

Although all of these people have been nice and sympathetic, none have really been helpful. 3 have acknowledged the October problem. I would think that the collegeboard would have notified the affected students, but they haven't. I also thought they would have notified the college admissions offices, but they haven't. Upon finding out about this problem, we contacted the colleges to let them know and to find out how this impacts my daughter's application. Stanford and UCSB, said they would let us know if they were missing information, so no problem there. UCI said that incompleted applications would be tossed, but they were very helpful, by contacting collegeboard to verify my daughter's scores. UCSD ansd UCLA said as long as they receive the scores by the end of Jan, her app will be accepted. I don't know if they will get her scores by then or not.

The collegeboard does not seem to appreciate their immense responsibility and the effect they can have on so many students lives. It was shear luck we noticed the problem. I hope we found out in time.

thats not a good thing

a monopoly is never a good thing, imo

at collegeboard its everyone else's fault

I would threaten a lawsuit, you paid for a service you never got-

I had the same problem recently. Some of my schools have been asking me to fax copies to them months after they were supposed to have been sent by the college board.

Get media attention and the College Board will do your bidding.
