I agree, it’s a good effort, but I don’t think the new design is that much better than the old one.

they always like to make changes to earn some income. how many versions did MS change? is the new one necessarily better than its predecessor?

Font = gigantic.

Although considering that so many of those links go to the part of the site that’s not revamped, I don’t know why they did it…

In an attempt to so call modernize the site, they have now overused rounded corners. The page is subdivided into 4 columns spanning only the middle 50% of the page, therefore each column only occupies a mere 12.5% of the screen (220px). Even more baffling, a whole entire column is taken up for the sole purpose of displaying a pseudo-navigation box consisting of 5 items and a login box. The rest of the content is crammed into the remaining three columns via a 22px font size so anyone viewing the website will be able to read the text, however it also destroys any sense of contrast created by the alternating coloring. You can’t find anything because only a small amount of information is present on the screen at any given time therefore the information can only be spotted if the reader actively looks for it…

Overall, it’s a horrible design for the SAT site (it would be a good design for some web designer’s personal portfolio, and I would think that this is where the design originated from).

IMO, the web page design was misplaced. I don’t know how Collegeboard expects the test which they go to such extremities to keep secure to be taken seriously when it looks like the Crayola box took a **** on the computer screen. And that take a peek behind the curtain video was irritating.
Bottom line, it would have been better placed as a new theme for the PSAT page.

I got lost in it…

Does anyone know how to see what percent of the “daily SAT question” you got right/wrong?

Also, just like when the Sparknotes site was redone, it looked weird, this looks weird too. I think it’s kinda bad that they only redid a tiny part of the website.

a bit confusing at first

Whatever CB does is not cute.

How the hell do you do color in your posts?

Collegeboard: Fail

It feels like it went from dismal Myspace to sophisticated Facebook. Maybe it’s just because of the font change to Georgia(?). Wow I’m a nerd that I know what the font “Georgia” looks like.

It looks like an attempt for collegeboard to look “hip” among students, but it’s not really working for me. It does look more… unique though.

I like it more actually. Seems I’m almost the only one who thinks so. It may just be because I took a particular disliking to the old site. I found it to be really hard to find my way around.

This new site makes everything simple and accessible. However I kind of resent that they would make it look so cutesy with little mascots and such. That feels like they aren’t taking students seriously. Most people are a least a little bit stressed out about SAT scores and such, and really don’t want to have to see little smiling gherkins and such. Not to mention all these pretty, laughing diverse people. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a pretty, diverse person myself. But, I just don’t want any distractions on a site. (Let’s get down to business people!)

That’s what I don’t like about it, but I’d gladly take it over the old site, which was stale and confusing all at once.
