Being middle class family, i will not qualify for a lot of need based merit, but still will struggle to pay for school. For this, I am looking for a school with generous merit aid while also being semi prestigious. Schools like Miami university, university of Miami, and creighton seem to give scholarships based off academics. I'm a junior from Illinois (4.0 / 4.53, 32 ACT probably can get up to 33/34, moderate ecs and sports). Are there any other schools I should add to my list that would give me good merit scholarships? Thanks!

If your family is truly “middle class”, then you might be surprised at how much aid you qualify for. You should work with your parents to run the Net Price Calculator available on each school’s website to get a feeling for what kind of aid you might get.

You probably need to get more specific about region, size of school, and potential majors you are considering to get good advice out here.

Your grades and scores qualify for some big automatic ones:

But criteria like your actual price limit, potential majors, and other preferences would be helpful for others to make worthwhile suggestions.

What do you mean by “middle class”? Are you saying that your family earns around $50k-70k per year? $70k-100k? More than $100k?

You need to find out how much your parents will pay so you can figure out how much merit you need.

for instance, if your family will contribute $15k per year, then that can mean that you need a full tuition scholarship at least.
