I visited UMass Amherst yesterday and really liked it and will definitely consider it. Although, I heard some of the classes can be 200-400 students which concerns me a bit. I liked how the school was in a large town, not a city and I’m interested in Computer Science and the program there is supposed to be good. I’m just looking for a college with smaller classes (I didn’t mind the size of the school and how many students go there, I liked that actually). Thanks!
Well, you could try for one of the small LACs in the same consortium and use UMass cross registration to fill in any curricular gaps that they have.
Many public regional universities have almost exclusively small classes, are in a large town, and have a fairly large student population. I don’t know much about regionals in the Northeast though.
You should keep UMass Amherst on the list and possibly apply next year, however you might want to look at smaller schools in MA and LAC’s (liberal arts colleges) that offer smaller classes.
