You don’t have to stay in Chabot . Other community colleges will let you enroll and have other rules. Read up about all accessible cc 's and their rules. Switching cc’s is perfectly OK. But first, get that assessment done.
Take an intro to logic course, and make sure it includes “symbolic” logic. This will help identify what problems you have, as it works some of the same mental functions as math, but without numbers.
