Colleges that match my credentials?

Could you guys give me ideas of colleges that I could look into?? I'm not sure which colleges I have a chance of getting into with these credentials. I'm looking for a difficult college which has strong programs in either math, engineering, or science. Also, I want to really enjoy college and go to parties but of course that's not one of my priorities, I just want to have a good experience.

The following are what I will put on my application to the colleges I apply for:

~Academics~
GPA: 3.8-3.85 (out of 4.0)
SAT: ~2050
ACT: 30
AP courses: U.S. Government, Calculus, English, Art

~Extracurriculars~
4 years Hockey
4 years Baseball
3 years Football
Christian Service Team
NHS
Student Senate President
Inscape Magazine

Jobs: Work for car-part packaging company 30 hrs/week in summer
about 4 hours of community service per week

For the college application process, I'm expecting my essay to be pretty solid, as well as my teachers' letters of recomendation.

So what colleges do you think would be of my interest?? THANKS!

Have you had the $$ talk with your parents yet? How much are they willing to pay for you to go to school? Have they checked out their EFC? Is it affordable?

Generally your state flagship is a decent choice, but if you’re interested in private schools, folks will need to know your $$ situation to make decent suggestions. Some schools give merit aid, some do not. Some meet or come close to meeting need (amount above EFC - though can use the profile instead), others do not.

You do not want high debt upon graduation.

Otherwise, are you thinking of a research U or an LAC? Strong math and science can happen at either. Engineering is usually better at a state flagship, technical school (like RIT) or research U, but it can depend upon what type of engineering appeals to you.

Parties happen at any college…

That’s a pretty broad request. Geography? Size? Money Questions?

Big schools, think baout state flagship universities - Michigan, Virginia, North Carolina, UC-Berkeley, UCLA, Texas - the list is pretty long.

Medium Sized - USC, Notre Dame, Northwestern, Case-Western, Tulane, Vanderbilt, Emory.

Small - The Claremont Colleges, Carnegie-Mellon.

These are mostly match and reach schools but it’s a start. Use the College Search button on CC and enter your criteria, you’ll get even more answers.

Thanks to both of you, I realize it was a pretty vague question…i just wanted an idea of some colleges I could think about attending…but thanks!

Best off to start browsing through a good college guidebook such as the Fiske Guide. Then come back with more specific criteria which the book will help you create.
