A quick question. If a college only requires 2 SAT IIs, and I take more than that (3) but scored pretty bad on one of them, do they only look at the top 2? Will my third score affect my app?

800 and 780 on 2 of them but 640 on the other.

Yes, my third sucks (excuse is, 3rd exam of that day and woke up sick with a sore throat). Or do I just score choice it?

I'll do a retake and do a 4th subject but I was just wondering..

They only look at the top 2.

Would it drastically detract from my app if I still sent in a 600s score but had 2 other scores in 780 and 800?

Sorry if this is an ignorant question, but if the college only requires 2, and you were only happy with 2 of your scores, then why wouldn’t you want to use score choice and only send those 2? I think I’m missing something.

I think the colleges will only consider the ones that you put down on the application and the score report is just proof that you did get those scores. As for Score Choice, the policy is new and probably no one has tried it out yet. Whether colleges have a way to find out that you used Score Choice or not is still questionable.

Yeah, some schools don’t accept score choice (even though CB says there is no way for schools to know - but there is still the inherent risk). But I don’t know if they just reject it in the situation where a student takes multiple tests of the same subject or reasoning and just reports one…

What happens if I don’t report it on my application (just write my other 2 scores) and score choice the 600 from my report? Will that be considered academic dishonesty and qualify as grounds to reject me (for schools that say they reject score choice)?

Bump. Anyone know?

MIT and UC Berkeley only require 2, if you’re doing engineering, UCB requires level 2 and MIT takes either Math, as for the other test, both require a science preferably one that relates to your major, ex. civil eng, take physics, chem eng. take chem and so on.

But I’m wondering, am I obligated to write all my scores on my application? (when I self report what I got) Or am I just allowed to write down 2?

depends on the college, but usually you’re not so don’t worry about it.
